Now MMAM is reaching out to welcome those for whom transportation has been an obstacle to experiencing the museum. From September 1 through December 31 (and maybe beyond, if all goes well), the Minnesota Marine Art Museum will offer free rides to and from the museum through Winona Transit’s Dial-a-Ride Service any day MMAM is open (with the exception of Sundays, when Dial-a-Ride is unavailable). To schedule a ride, call 507-454-6666 the day before your planned trip.

Around 200 cities worldwide have some form of fare-free transit, whether fully free or just free for certain user groups, in certain zones or at certain times of day. As of the book’s publication, there were 97 cities and towns with fully fare-free public transit (the book uses the term fare-free transit because, of course, transit costs money whether fares or taxes pay for it).
